Client Request:
The client envisioned a harmonious blend of openness and privacy within the design, along with a spacious area for social gatherings. They wanted a refined, minimalist design without excessive use of black, imitations, or replicas. The interior needed to be practical and sophisticated, especially the kitchen, which was to be highly functional to suit the client’s passion for cooking.
Completed Project Stages:
- Layout Features: The space was designed around a geometric arrangement, adhering to a classic layout. We preserved the original boundaries of the kitchen and wet areas in line with the official BTI plan, ensuring smooth approval from the authorities. This allowed us to combine the kitchen and living room into a large, multifunctional space. Additionally, we created compact yet efficient wardrobes in the living areas and introduced a utility room with laundry facilities for added convenience.
- Client Preferences: The client sought a balance between openness and individual privacy. A key design element was the integration of the kitchen and living room into one open yet distinct area. Special attention was paid to the textile design, which played a significant role in creating warmth and comfort throughout the home.
- Decorative and Architectural Techniques: We used rhythmic gypsum molding (cornice) to form a consistent design line across all rooms. Oak-veneered panels were featured prominently in key areas such as the headboard walls and the media wall in the living room. In the private areas, we opted for textile wallpapers made from natural materials, adding an intimate, cozy touch.
- Accents and Unique Features: One standout feature is the handcrafted wall sconces in the hallway, made from granulated clay. These unique pieces, sourced from a Greek designer, added a textured, artistic element to the space.
- Key Success and Pride: The most rewarding aspect of the project was the client’s satisfaction with the final result. Their clear communication and our mutual understanding throughout the design process ensured a successful collaboration that met their needs and desires.
- Room Highlights:
Kitchen-Living Room: Logical zoning allowed for distinct areas for dining, cooking, and relaxing while maintaining an open, cohesive layout. The kitchen design prioritized function and ample space for cooking.
Bedrooms: Each bedroom was designed with its own wardrobe and small, cozy entry areas to enhance privacy.
Bathroom: The use of a single material across one of the bathrooms helped visually expand the space, creating a unified and elegant look.
Challenges Solved:
- Merging openness with privacy for the different rooms.
- Achieving a functional kitchen layout that accommodated the client’s passion for cooking.
- Incorporating custom, handcrafted details while adhering to the minimalist aesthetic.
